Waterway and Coastal Advisors assist with Information (not permission) for access to waterways and coastal waters. Advisors are volunteers and if phoning make sure the hour is not unsociable. Should an Advisor not be contactable or a waterway is not listed, contact the Regional Waterway Advisor or[email protected]
Not all waterways have an Advisor and should members be interested in a vacant post on river or canal in their locality please contact the Waterways and Environment Department. Details of the role can be downloaded from: /waterways-and-environment/waterways-volunteers/
For information and advice (not permission) on river access please contact the Local Waterway Advisor (LWA).
Canoe England River Information Service
The Canoe England River Information Service provides information of voluntary LWAs.
As yet Canoe England does not have LWAs for all rivers; where the river is not listed, contact the voluntary Regional Waterways Advisor (RWA), for the region the river is in, their names are listed in the regions and clubs pages.
If you experience a problem making contact, go to the RWA instead. Please do not phone the Canoe England office in Nottingham – the staff there are unlikely to know about water conditions in Cumbria!
If the officer is incorrectly listed, please advise the RWA.
RWAs and LWAs are volunteers, please do not make excessive demands; write well in advance wherever possible and always enclose an SAE. If you do phone, make sure the hour is not unsociable and remember the majority are in full time work and will not be available throughout the day.
If you are thinking about becoming a Regional or Local Waterway / Coastal Advisor,
