REGIONAL VOLUNTEER & RECOGNITION AWARDS 2015 (LEADING TO THE NATIONAL AWARDS 2015)

Nominations have now closed. Thank you to all of you that have sent in nomination forms the regional awards will be judged and the winners will be announced at the awards on the 14th November. 


AWARD CATEGORIES:

Young Volunteer
(sponsored by the Canoe Foundation) 
A young person who is under 19 on 1st January 2015 who commits time and effort to the club, centre or community throughout the year in one or more unpaid roles. Consider young people who volunteer behind the scenes as well as those who have made the successful step on a coaching/leadership pathway.

 

Community Volunteer Award
Club volunteers working behind the scenes and those working in the community and regions who have made a significant difference through their time and effort.

 

Event Volunteer
Recognition of volunteers who work behind the scenes at local, regional, national or international events. ICF, international and national officials across all disciplines should be considered as well as those who contribute highly to the success of Go Canoeing, DW and club events, etc.

 

Waterways & Environment Volunteer
Recognition of the outstanding contribution of a volunteer who has worked with others to  develop canoe access to and along England’s waterways whilst promoting sustainable canoeing to ensure the natural environment is enjoyed and protected.

 

Impact on Disability Canoeing (sponsored by the Canoe Foundation)
Recognition of outstanding contribution and commitment to increasing opportunities for disabled people of all ages to participate in Paddle-Ability and Paracanoe.

 

Volunteer Coach of the Year
Recognition of a qualified voluntary coach who works at all levels of the pathway across all types of Paddlesport, whether with young people or adults, and who has made an outstanding contribution to a club, centre or community.

 

Outstanding Contribution                                                    
Recognition of outstanding service to paddlesport. Includes long service, commitment and major contribution to the development of paddlesport. Those whose gallantry or devotion in bringing assistance to others in an aquatic situation shall also be considered.


John MacGregor 150 volunteer award 
Recognition of the total contribution by anyone volunteering for 150 hours or more during the period 1st July 2014 30th June  2015. Any time spent in ,supporting activities, at events, in administration or coaching will all be recognised within this 150 hours. All nominations for this award will be recognised. 


John MacGregor – Exceptional contribution 2015
Recognition of an exceptional contribution to the sport between 1st July 2014 to 30th June 2015. This can be for work anywhere within the sport but would also include anyone completing 1,000 hours of volunteering.


Club of the Year & Centre of the Year 2015
These are designed to recognise Clubs and Centres that; provides opportunities for everyone to experience high quality paddlesport; excel in the management and development of volunteers and coaches; have an innovative approach to working with schools or any other projects and that stand out against others on their efforts to improve the environment around them. If you feel that your club or your centre deserves this award then nominate them using this form. There are awards for both the winning club and centre as well as two runners up.


SPECIAL AWARD:

JOHN MACGREGOR CHALLENGE AWARD
In addition to the 2 new award categories in the main awards we will also be giving out an additional award to mark the pioneering spirit of John MacGregor, The John MacGregor Challenge Award. This is an award for an “outstanding achievement” that has inspired others. A detailed description of the award criteria can be found   here  and you can nominate yourself or someone else using the form here. The closing date for this award will be the 4th September 2015
