British Canoeing Level 3 Bursary Scheme for Volunteers
British Canoeing is running a £10,000 bursary scheme to financially support coaches who will be commencing a Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Paddlesport as part of their coaching development. Coaches who have volunteered their coaching services regularly (at least once a week) to a British Canoeing affiliated club for 6 months or more could be eligible for a bursary towards Level 3 Core Training and Discipline Specific Training.
The Level 3 Bursary Scheme for Volunteers aims to reduce the cost of Level 3 Training for paddlesport coaches who are acting as a volunteer coach within their club and thus not receiving remuneration from doing this role.
Coaches wishing to apply for this bursary should do so in agreement with their club as they will need to be nominated by two members of the club committee, who will also agree on behalf of the club to part-match the funding. Successful applicants will receive funding comprising of a £200 contribution as well as a £150 contribution from their club. In this way the bursary covers more than 50% of Level 3 Training. Upon successful completion qualification the clubs will benefit from enhanced coaching skills and behavior in a discipline relevant to them.
