BCU I UKCC Level 2

Changes to BCU UKCC Awards from January 2014

From 1st January2014 BCU Awarding Body (BCUAB) will be implementing a number of changesto the BCU UKCC Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Paddlesport.

These updates are required in response to changes in the NationalOccupational Standards affecting learning and assessment criteria forUKCC endorsed qualifications. This has also provided BCUAB with theopportunity to implement updates recommended from our own internalreview of the qualifications to ensure meet the needs of our sport.

BCUAB has worked together with the Home Nation Association Delivery Centres throughout the development phase.

Updates Specific to Level 2
The course remains the second step on the paddlesport coaching pathway, and focusses on progressive coaching.

The most significant change to Level 2 is the option of 3 different assessment routs. While the Level 2 training will remain generic, candidates will be able to choose whether to do kayak assessment, canoe assessment or both. Candidates who do a single discipline assessment can progress to the other at any time.

Further guidance will be issued directly to 2 trainees to outline their future options and how they can progress to the various assessment options.

The updated candidate materials will be issued to candidates registering for courses in 2014. If you have already registered and are attending a course in 2014, please contact the our customer services team to obtain the new candidate materials

Level 2 Transfer Course
Coaches who hold a BCU Coaching qualification prior to 2007, and who hold the relevant pre-requisites, can acheive the BCU UKCC Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Paddlesport via our Transfer route. This is effectively a shortened training course for the new qualification.
