In 2013 Canoe England conducted a review of the RCO and LCO roles, and their relevance to the current coaching workforce and their relation to the 2013-2017 Whole Sport Plan. This review was conducted in consultation with the RCOs and LCOs in post to identify responsibilities which reflect the local area needs, expected behavior from people in the roles, and what additional support is required to enable those in post to carry out the role effectively.
The outcome is that the positions now have a stronger emphasis onrepresenting the needs and views of coaches within their area and allow amore structured pathway of interaction with the Regional DevelopmentTeam and the English Coaching Service. The role descriptions were agreed unanimously at the September 2013 English Coaching Management Committee and can be downloaded on the right.
