Classic Race Series

The Marathon Classic Race Series is a challenging, fun and competitive series across some of the most exciting races in England. Focusing on (although not exclusively) an A to B race format, the series is open to crew boats only, so make sure you bring a friend to race with!

The Marathon Classic Race Series will run in conjunction with the events listed below. Each race will have its own entry requirements and rules- the event rules take priority on the day.

There will be an annual prize for the series winner in each class (see rule 6 below); Senior, Junior and Master (over 34 on the 1st Jan) in male and female categories plus, the winning mixed gender crew (1 male and 1 female) and mixed Master/ Junior crew (1 over 34 and 1 J18).

The following rules apply only to the Marathon Classic Race Series entrants:

  1. Points will only be awarded to those registered for the Classic Race Series.
  2. All crews entering and starting an event will receive 4 points per crew.
  3. If a crew does not finish an event NO further points will be awarded for that event.
  4. 4) When a crew finishes an event they will receive points from 20 for the winner down to 2. If there are ore than 19 crews entered the remaining crews will receive 2 points.
  5. During the Classic Race Series crews may change partner. In such a case each person will bring half of the points received from the previous crew forward to their new crew. The new crew must register using the online registration form prior to the race. (Note: A crew competing in other crews and then reforming Will Not carry forward the points earned from the changed crews.)
  6. The points for the best 6 results achieved, together with ALL participation points, will decide the series winners.

The series will run from April to April with the following races included for 2014/2015
